About Us

Creative Missional Community

Every young person needs the opportunity to express themselves – truly, honestly, and deeply. The unfortunate reality is that many young people today are growing up in places and situations where, because of trauma, fear, and difficult circumstances, they do not have the resources or safe places that allow them the freedom to fully express themselves.  Creative Missional Community is passionate about young people and uses the arts (music, art, dance, theater, etc.) to give these young people the tools to safely be able to express the heaviness they carry.

CMC is based in Romania. It specializes in working with young people who are living in government homes and low economic communities.  Many of these places do not have access to the arts due to a lack of funds. CMC works entirely for free providing music lessons and various arts opportunities to those with whom it engages.  The goal for each young person is not to achieve artistic expertise, but rather to find freedom of expression and to be able to share their voice with the world in a safe and loving community where they are encouraged and accepted.  CMC believes that everyone was created to be seen, listened to, and loved. No young person is an exception.

CMC is dedicated to partnering with local artists, musicians, and organizations in Romania who may be a positive influence in the lives of young people. We believe that by working together we can reach and care for young people in a more holistic and supportive approach.

Statement of Faith

We Believe...

There is only one true God who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Bible is the divinely inspired, authoritative, Word of God.  It is the standard and guide for all of Christian faith and practice.

Man was created in the image and likeness of God, but was alienated from God and one another because of the choice to live in sin. This choice made man subject to eternal separation from God.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully divine and fully human, who was born of a virgin, performed miracles, and lived a sinless life.

Jesus Christ was crucified for the sin of all mankind past, present, and future, rose to life after three days, and ascended into heaven to dwell at the right hand of God, conquering sin and death once and for all.

The sacrifice of Jesus Christ has made atonement for mankind, and those who repent and believe in Him are born again of the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become the children of God, with the promise of dwelling with Him forever in a new heaven and a new earth.

The Holy Spirit dwells within those who are justified through faith in Christ, providing power for godly living and effective service.

All people have value and dignity, are deeply loved by God, and should be treated with respect and love.

The people of God are to minister to all peoples in the power, leading, and fruit of the Holy Spirit, sharing the good news of Christ to all the world.

The Church consists of all those who are justified through faith in Christ, and while manifested locally in various cultures and contexts, is united universally under one Head, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Meet The Staff

Heather grew up in a family where music was played, poetry was read, art was appreciated, and theater was greatly enjoyed. While in Kindergarten she decided that she wanted to play the oboe, and a few years later she began taking lessons. Heather went on to earn a Bachelor and Master's degree in Music Performance, studying under Mark Dubois, Dr. Sarah Hamilton, and Scott Bell.  After playing professionally for several years, Heather sensed God calling her to use her love for the arts in a different way.

In 2016 Heather moved to Romania where she began  teaching music and various other creative classes to children living in the government orphanages around Bucharest. After 5 years of doing this work Heather sensed the Lord calling her to take the ministry she had been involved in, and turn it into a full-time, arts-based, missional nonprofit. In 2022 Heather founded the nonprofit Creative Missional Community in order to reach out to underprivileged kids through the arts, and to give those in the arts community an opportunity to serve with the talents that God has given them.
